A holiday mash-up for the whole family, The Hip Hop Nutcracker re-imagines Tchaikovsky’s classic score through explosive hip hop choreography, a dozen all-star dancers, on-stage DJ, an electric violinist and digital scenery. This evening-length show celebrates love, community and the magic of the holiday season.

The Hip Hop Nutcracker sets out on a third national tour following the success of two previous sold-out tours, spread out across 23 U.S. cities. The show is directed and choreographed by Jennifer Weber, artistic director of the Brooklyn-based theatrical hip-hop dance company Decadancetheatre. It was adapted to contemporary New York City by Mike Fitelson, executive director of United Palace of Cultural Arts (UPCA), which is the home of the original Hip Hop Nutcracker, and includes hip-hop interludes remixed and reimagined by DJ Boo, as well as an on-stage electric violinist.
Kurtis Blow is one of the founders and creators of recorded rap. A timeless artist and hip hop legend, Kurtis blazed the trail for early Hip-Hop artists, and continues to carry the torch for Hip-Hop music into new arenas. Kurtis is credited with many accolades, including first rapper signed to a major label, first certified gold rap record (The Breaks), first rapper to tour US and Europe, first rapper to record a national commercial (Sprite), first rapper to use the drum machine, sample, and sample loop, first Rap music video (Basketball), and first Rap millionaire.
