UPCA is joining the National Screening Day as over 160 movie theatres across the U.S. screen the film adaptation of George Orwell’s classic novel about a future controlled by a totalitarian government. The date was chosen because it is the day the story’s lead character begins rebelling against his oppressive government by keeping a forbidden diary. It was also Richard Burton’s last screen appearance.

Starring John Hurt, Richard Burton, Suzanna Hamilton, and Cyril Cusack. Directed and adapted by Michael Radford. 1984. 110 minutes. Screened on BluRay.

The movie will also inaugurate the Palace’s Grand Foyer as a cinema, with seating for 100. Please RSVP to save a seat. We will email you a confirmation a few days before the event.
