In keeping with New York Youth Symphony’s commitment to community engagement, the orchestra returns for its third annual free concert at United Palace, a warm up for its November 20 Season Opening Concert at Carnegie Hall.
The program includes:
- Viet Cuong: Neon (world premiere)
- Brahms: Symphony No. 3 in F major, op. 90
- Bruch: Violin Concerto No. 1 in G minor, op. 26
- Ravel: La valse

This Halloween, United Palace is ground zero for the zombie apocalypse. Guests can have a zombie makeover at our transformation station and partake in the annual costume parade across the Palace stage. Then we will screen Cuba’s first zombie movie, a horror-comedy hybrid, with more than a touch of political allegory. Finally, our zombie panel will discuss the role of zombies in the movie and contemporary life.

The Lobby Series focuses primarily on Northern Manhattan artists in the intimate, yet spectacular, setting of the Palace foyer, which has seating for 100 guests. RSVP to reserve a seat.
Washington Heights, Inwood and Harlem are undergoing a rebirth that Led Black, Editor-in-Chief of Uptown Collective (UC), has dubbed the Uptown Renaissance. The UC’s mission is to document that verve, energy and dynamism in real-time, as well as to help shape its trajectory. The UC has been preaching the Uptown Gospel on a daily basis since Feb 2010.
